RESTORING RIVER PROCESSES

Our Catchment Partnership Officer, Alex, attended the River Restoration Centre Conference in May 2015. The conference focused around;

  • People and process-based river management
  • Restoring River Processes
  • Natural Flood Management
  • Healthy Catchments

  • It was really interesting to hear the views of people from a variety of different backgrounds, and how they interact with their local river. It is incredibly important to share ideas and utilise local knowledge when prioritising river restoration works.

    Having a holistic view of a catchment, rather than carrying out restoration works in isolation, is key. Viewing a catchment as a whole enables us to recognise the wider benefits restoration work has.

    We look forward to attending the next River Restoration Centre Conference in 2016.
